1. Distressed flared denim jeans, preferably from Abercrombie or Hollister.
Via poshmark.com
But, if you were balling, asking for a pair of Diesels.
2. Graphic tees, ‘cause you could never have enough punny T-shirts.
Via ebay.com
LBH, your T-shirt drawer probably looked like an Urban Outfitters exploded in it.
3. Dance Dance Revolution WITH the pad.
Via g4tv.com
Even though the pad never really worked well, especially if you were playing with it on carpet.
4. This ubiquitous Tiffany & Co. charm bracelet.
EVERYONE. HAD. IT. So ~fancy~.
5. Julius the Monkey accessories by Paul Frank.
Had to have the wallet, keychain, bag, and stickers. And, of course, also the T-shirts and PJ bottoms.
6. The iPod transmitter that NEVER worked well.
Having an iPod was already a status symbol,
but being able to play it in your car was NEXT level. The worst part was
finding a radio station that could hold onto the signal.
7. Britney 4 Wheelers…
Britney Spears + Sketchers = ICONIC.
8. …and/or Heelys.
Via en.wikipedia.org
These were also something your
parents instantly regretted getting you, since you’d scratch the floors
wearing them around the house.
9. Glow perfume by Jennifer Lopez.
In the early 2000s there was NO
bigger or more fabulous star than J.Lo. She was larger than life! And
while you knew you couldn’t live her jet-set lifestyle, you could at
least smell like her (to be honest, she probably didn’t wear Glow).
10. Cranium
Via ebay.com
Before you played Cards Against Humanity, this was the ONLY game you really needed to help pass the time.
11. Abercrombie & Fitch logo sweaters (that came with the faint smell of Fierce cologne).
Tim Boyle / Getty Images
A&F was THE IT store of the early
2000s teens, and you probably wanted everything from them. But, if you
couldn’t get your entire wardrobe from there, getting their hoodies and
sweaters was the next best thing — even if they were overpriced and the
smell of Fierce never fully washed out.
12. A colorful iPod Mini…
Mario Tama / Getty Images
They were small and cute and made your old iPod look like a brick.
13. …and then an iPod Nano.
Via en.wikipedia.org
It was game over for the Mini after
the Nano was released. Suddenly THIS, with its color screen and
teeny-tiny size, was the player you wanted…BADLY.
14. Chunky Steve Madden shoes.
Probably your first ~designer~ shoe. And you thought these styles went with everything.
15. Polaroid i-Zone instant camera.
Via amazon.com
Sure you also wanted a digital
camera, but this was the only camera that allowed you to print out the
pics as stickers. STICKERS.
18. Your favorite TV shows on DVD.
Fox Televsion
This was the only way you could
binge-watch a TV show back in the day — well, at least binge-watch a TV
show season you had probably already seen.
19. Work boot heels inspired by the ones you saw J.Lo wear in her “Jenny From The Block” music video.
LOL, of course J.Lo probably didn’t get her pair from Nine West or Steve Madden.
20. Performance Fleece sweaters and vests from Old Navy.
Via oldnavy.gap.com
Those campy/classic commercials made it seem like if you didn’t want one these, there was something wrong with you.
21. A pair of UGG boots.
Via ovobootsus.com
Was there a more desired Christmas
gift than UGGs? They practically screamed the PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT
since they were meant to be worn in cold weather, plus they were a
splurge item.
22. Polos, preferably from Lacoste.
Afp / AFP / Getty Images
Either to layer with other polos or to wear with the collar popped.
23. The Sims along with all its amazing expansion packs.
Via ebay.com
The worst part was the amount of
memory the packs used up on your PC. That is if your computer wasn’t
crashing from all the viruses your LimeWire files gave it.
24. Juicy Couture EVERYTHING.
But in particular the velour tracksuit — with “Juicy” written on the butt, of course.
25. Fugly AF trucker hats.
Via ebay.com
And there was only one name when it
came to fugly trucker hats: Von Dutch. You probably wanted one since
EVERY young celeb seemed to have one in the early ’00s.
26. A (separate) webcam for your desktop.
The only problem was finding the proper angle (you wanted) the webcam to shoot you from.
27. Puka shell necklaces.
The perfect way to accessorize your
outfit with, ‘cause it ~went~ with EVERYTHING. Plus, you could always
use more than one since they were easy to lose.
28. Altoids Sours in your stocking.
Via change.org
Sure they scratched the top of your
mouth like a piece of Cap’n Crunch cereal on roids, but they were tasty
and a nice surprise to find inside your stocking…along with MONEY.
29. A flip phone with a camera
Mainly ‘cause you wanted to make all
your friends jealous that you could take and send super low-res photos.
(Low-res was the original filter, TBH.)
30. An oh-so-cool and interactive Nintendo DS…
Sure you had to be like no more than three feet away from your friend in order for your DS’s interact. But they INTERACTED!
31. …and of course you had to get Nintendogs along with your DS, ‘cause it was just as cool as having a real pet.
Nintendogs may you RIP alongside all those Tamagotchis we neglected and had die on us in the ’90s.
